T32 Integrative Training in Cancer Biology Program
The Integrative Training in Cancer Biology (ITCB) Program offers a comprehensive educational experience that prepares fellows for independent research careers in cancer biology. The two-year program has an intentional focus on developing scientific approaches designed to address cancer disparities in the important role of community engagement in research. Priority opportunities are given to traditionally underrepresented individuals in cancer biology.

Walter Lawrence Scholars Initiative
The Walter Lawrence Scholars Initiative is for diverse individuals interested in a career in science writing and communication who are in their last year of a doctoral program (post-qualifying exams) or have completed a terminal degree. Predoctoral and postdoctoral students and trainees are encouraged to apply. This six-week internship is designed to foster a pathway for individuals in this field while promoting an understanding of cancer disparities in Virginia and nationwide.

Massey Scholars Program
The Massey Scholars Program offers cancer research postdoctoral fellowships to provide mentored research training to promising scientists and physician-scientists who have the potential to become productive, independent cancer research investigators and successfully compete for peer-reviewed, extramural funding. The awards will be issued for a 2-year period. The second year funding will be contingent upon proof of adequate progress during the first year.
The fellowships are offered within two separate tracks:
- Cancer Laboratory Research Track: All theoretical and experimental research projects relevant to the study of cancer and the search for cancer causes, mechanisms, therapies and prevention are welcomed under this track.
- Cancer Prevention & Control (CPC) Track: Research projects related to topics in cancer prevention and control including (but not limited to) cancer policy and economics, communication and decision making, survivorship, disparities, community-engaged research and behavioral interventions will be acceptable for the CPC track.

Bidirectional Research Program to Increase Diversity and Equity in Cancer Research (BRIDGE) Postdoctoral Fellowship
In partnership with the University of Puerto Rico Comprehensive Cancer Center, BRIDGE offers experiential research opportunities with cancer experts at an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Through one of two research tracks — Cancer Biology & Translational Sciences and Cancer Prevention & Control — post-graduate/post-doctoral trainees gain hands-on experience through in-person (Richmond, VA) and hybrid learning experiences inclusive of networking opportunities and career development guidance.

Cancer Prevention and Control Cancer Health Equity T32 for Postdocs
Massey’s NCI-funded T32 postdoctoral training program supports trainees interested in cancer prevention and control and cancer health equity research. This two-year, multidisciplinary training program is individually tailored, inclusive of a core curriculum in the science and practice of conducting cancer prevention and control research, unique training opportunities and a mentored research experience.
