Endowments

Ray and Lynn Slabaugh with Dr. Gordon GinderRay and Lynn Slabaugh's gift created the Slabaugh Family Research Fund for Clinical Trials in honor of Dr. Gordon Ginder. The fund will support the advancement of promising research at Massey.

VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center welcomes significant investments in our cutting-edge research that is making a difference and saving lives. Our development team will work with you to explore Massey’s funding priorities including recruitment of top talent, clinical trials, pilot projects and innovative research to find the best match for your philanthropic interests. We most welcome commitments that are broad based to be used at the director’s discretion to meet the most immediate research needs.

Major gifts can be pledged over a period of five years and made with cash or appreciated securities.  Generous major gift benefactors help turn promising cancer research into medical breakthroughs that benefit patients in Virginia and beyond.

Endowed Gifts

An endowment fund is a permanent, self-sustaining major gift to support the needs of VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center. Each year, a portion of the value of the fund is paid out to support the fund’s purpose, and any earnings in excess of this distribution are used to build the fund’s market value. Endowments have both immediate and permanent benefits for the institution, helping to recruit and retain the best scientists and physician-researchers to named chair and professorship positions, and provide critical research funding. Endowments may be named according to the wishes of the donor in line with VCU naming standards. By establishing an endowment, donors create a permanent legacy of support for Massey.
